Dublin Bus fleet upgrade

HRA PLANNING Chartered Town Planning Consultants has recently assisted the National Transport Authority (NTA) in securing an integral part of its programme to upgrade and provide for electrification of existing Dublin Bus depots in the Capital by securing planning permission for a temporary bus depot at Jamestown in Dublin City.

The development will assist the transition of the public transport provider to accommodate a zero-emissions fleet by 2050 pursuant to the Dublin Bus strategy ‘Driving Change: Our Journey to Zero’ as part of Ireland’s Climate Action and Low Carbon Development Action Plan 2021.

On behalf of the NTA, HRA PLANNING provided the design team with the planning application strategy and formulated the planning case for the proposal demonstrating the suitability of location for the temporary facility; its contribution to Strategic Climate Change and Transport Objectives for the Greater Dublin Area set out in the National Planning Framework 2040, the National Development Plan, and The National Climate Action Plan; its compliance with the Dublin City Development Plan; and consideration of effects on the receiving environment and surrounding amenities.

The planning application strategy and case for planning compliance presented by HRA PLANNING took into account that planning permission had been refused previously on this former industrial site.
