RESEARCH PROJECT OFFICER / TECHNICIAN

HRA Planning Chartered Town Planning Consultants invite applications, from qualified and highly motivated persons for the position of Research Project Officer/Technician in their Limerick office.

The position requires a third level primary qualification and a desire to learn. Experience using ArchGIS, graphic design, publishing software such as InDesign, Photoshop would be a distinct advantage.

HRA Planning is a dynamic town planning and development consultancy firm with offices in Limerick and Dublin.  Established in 2005, we have a diverse and varied client base extending across both the public and private sectors.

 

WHO DO WE NEED?

 We are seeking a staff member who can support our increasing workload across a number of areas and in particular in researching and promoting development projects.  You will be required to review, package and circulate information relating to development projects and provide administrative support for large and diverse design teams.

 

You are joining a small company, so the key requirement is the flexibility to work across a wide range of activities and projects to scheduled deadlines. Attention to detail is essential as well as an ability to look at the bigger picture.

 

Professional Attributes

Good communication skills. Ideally you may have an understanding of the Irish construction sector and have sufficient relevant education background to support ongoing research requirements.

 

Personal Attributes

Highly motivated all rounder, ability to focus on detail without losing the bigger picture. Flexibility required to work on highly diverse projects. You must be motivated to work in the area of planning & development.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE

  • Researching and compiling reports on population trends, infrastructure provision, planning policy and planning history;
  • Data analysis and mapping;
  • Project management including file management and client communications;
  • General office and project administration
  • Relationship building and client interaction

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Character:

Each candidate shall be of good character

 

Health:

Candidates shall be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

 

Education:

Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed applications possess:

  1. Hold a third level primary education;
  2. A high standard of training and research experience;
  3. An awareness of Health & Safety Legislation and Regulations and their application in the workplace.

 

Desirable Experience:

  • Excellent research, analytical, writing and communications skills, with a flair for presentation desirable.
  • Ability to conduct effective research and concise reporting.
  • Proficient computer skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite essential.
  • Experience using ArchGIS, graphic design, publishing software such as InDesign, Photoshop, etc a distinct advantage.
  • Familiarity with the culture and organisation of local authorities.
  • Proven leadership skills and an ability to work independently and as part of a larger team. and
  • Valid Driving Licence and access to car.

SELECTION PROCESS

  • Post of Research Project Officer / Technician will be filled from this advertised competition. Selection shall be by means of a competition conducted by or on behalf of HRA Planning.

  • The interview will be held in the offices of HRA Planning in Limerick.
  • HRA Planning reserve the right to undertake eligibility and / or shortlist candidates in the manner it deems most appropriate.
  • HRA Planning shall require any person to whom an appointment is offered to take up such appointment within a period of not more than one month. Where he/she fails to take up appointment within such period, or such longer period as agreed, HRA PLANNING shall determine whether or not to appoint that person.

 

JOB TYPE & SALARY

Fixed Term 1 Year Contract – We are open to considering flexible working hours to facilitate family commitments but there shall be a requirement to be in the office 5 days per week.

Minimum working hours of 22.5 hours (exclusive of lunch break)

Salary shall be in accordance with industry norm and shall be negotiable.
