SENIOR TOWN PLANNING POSITION

HRA Planning Chartered Town Planning Consultants invite applications, from suitably qualified persons, who wish to be considered for the position of Senior Town Planning Consultant in their Limerick office. The position requires a minimum of 2 years post qualification with demonstrable familiarity with Irish planning and environmental legislative process.

 

HRA Planning is a dynamic town planning consultancy firm with offices in Limerick and Dublin.  We have a diverse and varied client base extending across both the public and private sectors. Our highly accessible Limerick City office is situated within the centre of Ireland’s third largest city which boasts affordable family living, easy commuting and, immediate proximity to the amenities offered by Ireland’s West Coast including; convenient access to Atlantic beaches, the Wild Atlantic Way, the River Shannon and the Lough Derg inland waterway.

 

A vacancy exists for a self-motived and experienced Town Planner interested in leading a diversity of planning and development projects for private and public sector clients throughout Ireland.

 

SCOPE OF WORK
You will engage and gain experience directly in various Planning areas including;

  • Development Management– All aspects of strategy and management of planning applications, planning appeals and associated operations in respect to various planning projects types;
  • Forward Planning – The preparation of submissions in response to relevant forward planning policies and documentation produced by regional and local authorities
  • Environmental Planning – including Environmental Impact Assessment processes and procedures;
  • Public Sector Commissions – Assist on various commissions including research, strategy formulation and publication.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Character:

Each candidate shall be of good character

 

Health:

Candidates shall be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

 

Education:

Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed applications possess:

  1. A recognised Degree or 3rd level professional qualification (HETAC Level 8 or equivalent) in Land Use Planning which is IPI and / or RTPI accredited.
  2. A high standard of training and experience;
  3. An awareness of Health & Safety Legislation and Regulations and their application in the workplace.

Membership of the Irish Planning Institute or similar equivalent professional body is highly desirable

 

Minimum Experience:

  • Two years post graduate experience in evaluating planning projects within the land use planning and development process.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Irish planning policy and legislation.
  • Excellent research, analytical, writing and communications skills, with a flair for presentation desirable.
  • Ability to conduct effect research and concise reporting.
  • Proficient computer skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite essential.
  • Experience using ArchGIS, graphic design, publishing software such as InDesign, Photoshop, etc a distinct advantage.
  • Familiarity with the culture and organisation of local authorities.
  • Proven leadership skills and an ability to work independently and as part of a larger team and
  • Valid Driving Licence and access to car.

  • Post of Town Planner will be filled from this advertised competition. Selection shall be by means of a competition conducted by or on behalf of HRA Planning.
  • Candidates should note that the information provided by them in their CV and cover letter will form the basis on which eligibility and short listing is conducted.
  • HRA Planning reserve the right to undertake eligibility and / or shortlist candidates in the manner it deems most appropriate.
  • HRA Planning shall require any person to whom an appointment is offered to take up such appointment within a period of not more than one month. Where he/she fails to take up appointment within such period, or such longer period as agreed, HRA PLANNING shall determine whether or not to appoint that person.

The interview will be held in the offices of HRA Planning in Limerick.

 

SALARY

Salary shall be in accordance with industry norm and shall be negotiable.
