Limerick Economic Spatial Plan recognises SFPC Masterplan 2041

The ‘Limerick 2030 – An Economic and Spatial Plan for Limerick’ was unveiled today by Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government Phil Hogan , Minister for Finance Michael Noonan and Minister of State for Housing and Planning Jan O’Sullivan.

Amongst the key economic sector principles identifed in the Economic Spatial Plan are the opportunities and objectives of the Shannon Foynes Port Company which were formulated and are contined in the Port’s ‘Vision 2041′ Masterplan which was prepared by HRA PLANNING and launched in February this year.

The Limerick Economic Spatial Plan recognises the opportunity of deep-water berthage proposed by the Port and the need for increased land supply to meet forecasted export and logistical demand and evolving economic development as identifed in the Port’s ‘Vision 2041 Masterplan’.

The reference to the Port and recognition of its objectives in the Limerick Economic Spatial Plan demonstrates the importance of a planning-led evidence based approach to master-planning and strategic economic development.
