Mary Hughes becomes President of Irish Planning Institute 2014/15

IPI President Mary HughesHRA PLANNING is delighted to announce that company director Mary Hughes has been elected as president of the Irish Planning Institute (IPI) – the body representing professional Planners in Ireland for 2014/2015.

Hughes said; “It is both an honour and privilege to be elected as the 29th President of the Institute.  No no doubt it will be a busy and challenging year as October marks the 50th anniversary of the Local Government (Planning & Development) Act 1963 and one of the primary roles of the Institute is to ensure that we have a planning system that is fit for purpose and appropriate to guide development for the next fifty years”.

Among Mary’s objectives for the year as IPI president include:

  1. Promoting the role and importance of the planner and planning in economic recovery; and
  2. Securing professional recognition of planners and establishing a professional standards board.
