Gary is a Chartered Town Planner and environmental consultant with 17 years experience gained in both public and private sector planning positions including multi -disciplined private practices.
Gary offers a unique blend of planning and environmental skills and is increasingly retained to provide specialist input on projects that require a fundamental knowledge of both development planning and environmental impact assessment (and appropriate assessment). Gary is currently providing Planning services to a diverse public and private client base that includes; state bodies; local government and semi-state organisations, commercial developer interests, the renewable and extraction energy industry, Receivers and Restructuring institutions, and design professionals including architects and engineers.
Specialist areas include; formulation of site-specific and area based development strategy; masterplanning, project management of planning applications and planning appeals; Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Appropriate Assessment (AA); planning feasibility, and expert planing witness for judicial cases. Gary was also one of the authors of the highly acclaimed Rural Design Guide for County Cork which has influenced numerous rural design policy and guidelines throughout the Country over the last 10 years.
Gary has established a track record in securing timely and favorable planning decisions and has a particular interest in providing clarity on the implications for planning projects of the Article 6 (Appropriate Assessment) provisions of the EU Habitats Directive.
